Students ask each other questions — the teacher does not speak.

Shifts authority to the students — they discover they can sustain a discussion without the teacher driving it.

Instructions

Students sit in a circle with a shared text or question. The rule: only students speak. The teacher observes and takes notes. Students must build on what others have said before adding a new point. Anyone can ask a question. Anyone can answer. Run for 10-15 minutes. Debrief: what patterns did you notice?
