Silent Debate
Students debate a topic entirely in writing — passed back and forth.
Gives slower thinkers time to formulate arguments — levels the playing field in discussion.
Instructions
Pairs sit with a shared piece of paper divided in two columns: For and Against. One student writes one argument in their column. The other responds in their column — in writing only, no talking. Keep going for 5 minutes. Then read the full exchange aloud together. Debrief: did anything change your mind?
